Why this page exists

This is the mentoring engine underneath BSCF Network. Alumni say what they're willing to give — mentoring, a resume review, an internship referral, career advice, and eight other kinds of help. Students (and alumni too) say what they're looking for. BSCF proposes a match between a compatible offer and need, and both sides have to say yes before any contact information changes hands.

If you're an alum: making an offer

  1. 1Go to My offers.
  2. 2Pick a type of help (mentoring, career chat, resume review, financial support, and so on), how you'd rather do it — remote, in person, or either — and an optional capacity (e.g. "2 per semester") so you're never matched more than you can handle.
  3. 3Submit. Your offer is active immediately and visible to admins looking to propose matches.
  4. 4Not available right now? Retire the offer instead of deleting it — one click brings it back later.

Posting a need

  1. 1Go to My needs.
  2. 2Choose what kind of help you're looking for, describe it, and add a timeframe if it's time-sensitive.
  3. 3Submit — your need is now open and visible to admins who can match it against an alum's offer.
  4. 4Found what you needed a different way? Mark it fulfilled. Not needed anymore? Expire it. Either way, you can always reopen it.

Accepting or declining a match

  1. 1Go to My matches — a BSCF admin proposes these; you don't create them directly.
  2. 2Review what's being proposed. Accept it, or decline if it's not a fit — declining reopens the need for a fresh proposal, no hard feelings.
  3. 3Once both sides accept, contact details unlock for both of you — that's the moment you can actually reach out.
  4. 4When the mentoring/help is done, either side can mark it complete.
Good to know — nothing about your offer or need is visible unless you've turned on “matchable” in Profile → Privacy & matching — that's the separate consent gate from being listed in the Directory.
